Retro styling

So I recently went shopping in London and bought a fair few bits, I went to Oxford Street and of course spent a couple of hours in the huge Topshop store. As you may guess from where a lot of my clothes are from, I am in love with the shop, especially when it has three floors… I found this top from Blitz Remix which is a vintage brand in the Oxford street store. Stripes and off the shoulder are two of my favourite fashion trends so hence why I loved this top and it goes so well with these frill hem trousers from Monki. I’ve wanted a pair of these trousers for ages but wasn’t sure whether it would suit me but I went ahead and bought them and now I can’t stop wearing them instead of black jeans. I felt the same with these sunglasses. The yellow lens sunglasses trend has stemmed from the 90s and has made a retro comeback this summer with likes of Bella Hadid and Slick Woods pulling them off. I felt they matched perfectly with the top creating a retro vibe to the outfit.

As much as I love fashion trends, they can sometimes be so daring and a little bit intimidating that people hold back from joining in. I am definitely one of those people as I worry whether it will look good on me and whether people will judge me. It may not seem it but this outfit was a bit different for me and recently I’ve been more confident to wear what I want out, whereas before I worried what people would think. A lot of people have fashion fears and are afraid to step out in a those pair of eccentric trousers or that dress they’ve been styling on themselves in their head but can’t bring themselves to wear. I was inspired with this post by Dia&Co, a plus sized clothing company, who have Try-Day Friday where they challenge themselves to step out the box and wear something different. So the point of what I’m saying, is to wear what you want and feel comfortable in it. Don’t worry what others think because it’s your style and makes you who you are!
