Self love in silky pinstripe
Stripes are one of the most popular patterns you’ll see upon clothing and who doesn’t love them!? I’m sure everyone owns a few stripes in their wardrobe (if you don’t then… are you alright?). My favourite is pinstripes though, already owning a pair of trousers in this style to then buying this silky blouse from Topshop. Just going to say stripes one more time as don’t think I’ve said it enough…
The top has a pair of matching trousers, which I’ll link at the bottom, but I decided to buy it as a stand alone item. I must admit, I’m not sure if it’s the most flattering top on me, especially when the wind is blowing it up to make me look pregnant! However, I love it and believe that if you feel comfortable in what you’re wearing then you can make anything look flattering.
I’ve seen a lot of girls writing Instagram captions or blog posts about losing motivation and feeling down about themselves lately and so I just wanted to write a bit about self-love. We’ve all been there, we’ve all got our own insecurities and sometimes nothing can snap us out of them. I have moments where I look in the mirror and don’t like what I see, making myself feel rubbish and want to be something I’m not. And then, I do the worst thing you should do when you’re already feeling down, I scroll through Instagram and compare with others. My top tip is to not do this! We are all different and unique in our own way and should be proud of who we are. It’s only normal to have these moments as everyone does but the worst thing to do is to compare yourself with others as you are who you are. Another tip, if you’re feeling low, is to stand in front of the mirror and compliment yourself, be arrogant and give yourself some love! If that doesn’t help then turn to a friend or family or your other half and tell them how you feel, if you can’t compliment yourself then I’m sure they will.
Slightly sidetracked from the outfit but as I said I don’t feel this top is the most flattering but I can dress it up to become flattering because I like wearing it and feel comfortable in it.
These jeans are my new go-to pair. I feel so comfortable in them so pairing this top with them made me feel good in myself. I changed from my usual pairs of trainers or Dr Martens to this chic pair of slingbacks I got from ASOS. I wanted a pair with a subtle heel for times when you’re just going out for dinner and don’t feel like dressing up, in which these are perfect for.
Anyway, my point is to give yourself some self love and don’t forget to compliment yourself from time to time because everyone deserves it! What outfit or item of clothing do you feel the most comfortable wearing?
